As a newborn photographer, every detail matters — from the softness of the lighting to the textures that cradle a tiny baby. One of the most important decisions I make in every session is my colour palette, and I intentionally choose natural and neutral tones. These colours aren’t just a style choice — they help tell a timeless, gentle story that puts your baby at the heart of every image.
Neutral colours like ivory, beige, taupe, and soft greys create a calm and serene environment that reflects the purity and simplicity of new life. These tones don’t distract or compete with your baby’s delicate features; instead, they enhance the softness of newborn skin and allow natural light to wrap gently around them. I do like to add little colour pops of gender specific tones like muted pinks or blues.
Natural colours also have a timeless appeal. Trends come and go, but a photograph captured in subtle, earthy hues will still feel beautiful and relevant decades from now. Many parents have told me they love that their photos feel “classic” and that they’ll never go out of style.
Another reason I embrace this palette is versatility. Neutral tones work beautifully in any home and make it easier for families to display their images as wall art or in albums without worrying about clashing with their decor.
Above all, my goal is to keep the focus where it belongs — on your baby’s unique expressions, tiny details, and peaceful presence. By using natural and neutral colours, I ensure your newborn’s first portraits are soft, warm, and truly unforgettable.
